Back to size guide

Choose for the child riding today—not next year.

A board that is too large or stiff can make early turns unnecessarily difficult. Current weight, boot size and confidence matter more than leaving maximum room to grow.

Do not oversize for growth

Children learn faster when they can bend, pivot and stop the board they have now. An oversized board may last longer physically but can slow skill development.

  • Remain inside the maker’s current rider-weight range.
  • A modest amount of growing room is better than the largest possible board.

Use youth-specific specifications

Youth boards are not simply short adult boards. Their flex, stance options and widths are designed for smaller bodies and boots.

  • Confirm the minimum stance width is comfortable.
  • Pair youth boots and bindings using the manufacturers’ compatibility guidance.

Recheck instead of guessing

Children’s weight and boot size can change quickly. Recheck before each season and after major growth rather than relying on last year’s setup.
